Validation studies for the ICF-CS for schizophrenia

2016-2017

University of Barcelona

In order to provide evidence for the transcultural validity of the first version of the ICF-CS for schizophrenia we are currently engaged in the following research:

Delphi studies. The content validity of the ICF-CS for schizophrenia has already been evaluated in a Delphi study involving psychiatrists. We will shortly be conducting other Delphi studies with professionals from the fields of psychology, nursing, social work and occupational therapy. If you are a professional in any of these fields, have at least two years’ experience of treating people with schizophrenia and would like to be involved in this project, then please click here.

Focus groups. These studies provide evidence regarding the pertinence of the ICF-CS categories to the assessment of functioning. In focus groups of up to seven people, patients, relatives or caregivers share their experiences, ideas and feelings in relation to functioning. If you are interested in setting up a focus group in your country our research team will support you throughout the process, providing whatever guidance is required. If you wish to take part, please click here.

Multicentre studies. These studies will be carried out in health centres across the six WHO regions. The aim is to investigate the clinical relevance and feasibility of the ICF-CS for schizophrenia from an international perspective. If you are interested in conducting a multicentre study in your countries, our research team will support you throughout the process, providing whatever guidance is required.
