Social dinner in honor of Professor Pirola will take place on Wednesday 7th at 8:30 at Fonda España (located in the Hotel España, Sant Pau, 9-11 08001 Barcelona)
There will be two parallel guided visits on Wednesday to some interesting places of the city (maximum 30 people each):
1. GUIDED VISIT TO THE GOTHIC QUARTER IN BARCELONA
This tour let you know about the city of Barcelona in the 13th and 14th centuries, when it was one of the most important cities of the Mediterranean sea. It is interesting to know about the balance of power of the King, the Church and the citizens.
Meeting point: Hall of the old Building of the University.
Meeting Time: 16.00h (the guided visit will begin Sharp at 16.15. The guide will not wait for latecomers. The visit will end around 18.45h.)
Tour: Cathedral (outside), Plaça del Rei, Plaça Sant Jaume (where the Catalonian Government and Barcelona City Hall are located), Jewish quarter, Rambla and we will end the tour in La Boqueria Market. The order of the tour can change due to external factors. If anything in the program can’t be visited because of any external reason, we will visit another site instead of that.
Expected Time: 2.30 hours
Recommendations: Wear comfortable shoes, pack some water and keep your belongings out of sight.
2. GUIDED VISIT TO THE PASSEIG DE GRÀCIA
At the end of the 19th century it was a cultural explosion in Barcelona, the new bourgeoisie sponsored the art production of the city. Trough its buildings we can know a lot about that.
Meeting point: Hall of the old Building of the University.
Meeting time: 16.00h. The tour will begin at 16.15 (the guide will not wait latecomers). The tour will end at 18.45h.
Tour: Passeig de Gràcia, exteriors of Casa Lleó Morera, Casa Ametller, Casa Batlló, Casa Milà… Gardens of Palau Robert, Casa Fuster, Casa Baró Quadras, Casa Muntaner…

Visit to the building of the University
There will be also a guided tour to the historical building on Wednesday offered by the University staff from 15:15 to 15:45, maximum 30 people.
