Rafael M. MÉRIDA JIMÉNEZ is a Serra Húnter associate professor of Spanish literature and gender studies at the Universitat de Lleida (since 2006). He previously taught at the universities of Barcelona and Girona, at Rice University (Houston, United States) and at the Universidad de Puerto Rico-Río Piedras. His courses and research addresses a broad group of topics and works within Hispanic literature, including the courtly chivalric tradition. His publications within the field of women's studies include the monographs El gran libro de las brujas (2004) and Damas, santas y pecadoras (2008) and an edition of the works of Teresa de Jesús, Llevar el alma con suavidad (2006). Among his contributions to gender and queer studies we can find the anthologies Sexualidades transgresoras (2002), Manifiestos gays, lesbianos y queer (2009) and Minorías sexuales en España (2013), as well as the essay Transbarcelonas (2016). At the moment he is the PI of the project "Diversidad de género, masculinidad y cultura en España, Argentina y México" (FEM2015-69863-P, MINECO-FEDER).
