MUNCE, A New Portal for Crime Novels by Women

Database

The project MUNCE presents its new website, the principal object of which is the study of the crime novel by women in Spain from 1975 up to the present day. This portal, which can be accessed through the Centre Dona i Literatura website, includes a catalogue-database of bibliographic information and reviews of these texts that can be searched by the general public and has been conceived as a way of facilitating analysis from the perspective of feminism and gender studies. In the book files, special emphais is places on the representation of women as figures of power, criminals and as victims, specifying the different forms of violence used against them.

The site, designed by KD, has been developed in Drupal so as to facilitate access to the contents as well as automatic searches of diverse categories. As an open project, the objective is to go beyond the academic dimension, and to develop over time; thus, new contents and updates of existing information will be incorporated. Elena Losada, researcher of the Centre Dona i Literatura, is the director of both the catalogue-database and the research project.
