In this volume we intend to show that the discourses of the future and utopian thinking also accompany fundamentally the literature of exile and the diaspora, and present the very diverse forms that have to be articulated. The studies that we gather are focused mainly on authors of the 20th and 21st centuries, protagonists of exiles and diasporas caused by a history marked by the sign of catastrophes. They document the German exile, specifically the German Jew, the Spanish exile and also the Arab diaspora today. This confirms a certain chronological reason in the panorama we offer: the classic exiles of the twentieth century related to the rise of fascism, the Spanish Civil War, National Socialism and the mass murder of European Jews, and finally the current diasporas as result of totalitarian governments.
