The University of Barcelona's Institute for Water Research is organising, together with the Catalan Royal Academy of Pharmacy, AEAS and ADECAGUA, the second edition of the Workshop on Water Archaeology. This time the focus will be on topics primarily related to cities, from the relationship between water and citizen health to the water trades in cities throughout the different historical eras, and other more strictly archaeological water-related issues such as management in the Late Bronze Age, water structures in Edom or practices in the Iron Age and the cities of Andalusia. A more philosophical approach will be provided in the form of a presentation on water as a border and passage to the other world.
As in the first edition, we will learn about the structures, beliefs and philosophy surrounding water throughout history, enhancing our understanding of many of the features of water management seen in cities today.
