“Quality Improvement in the Medical School”
AMSE Annual Conference in Barcelona, 5-7 June 2008
AMSE is organising, in co-operation with the Catalonian Medical Schools, Spain, its Annual Conference 2008.The subject is “Quality Improvement in the MedicalSchool” in a European Trans-national and Multidisciplinary context. The Meeting will take place in the MedicalSchool of Barcelona University, Spain, on 5–7 June 2008.
The objective of the Conference is to bring together experts and managers of medical schools and the healthcare sector with quality assurance experts from European, national and regional quality agencies.They will analyze together the implementation of quality assurance in Medical Schools: from ENQA (the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education) to Medical Schools, step by step.One purpose is to disseminate the existence of specific standards for quality improvement & accreditation of MedicalSchools and programmes: another is to explore tools for quality assurance not only in medical education but also in healthcare systems and in services and certification methods for foreign medical graduates.
One special interest is to disseminate the European specifications of the World Federation for Medical Education Global Standards of quality improvement.These apply to all three phases of medical education: not only to the undergraduate course, but also to postgraduate medical education, and to the continuing education of the doctor throughout his or her career.These European standards were developed in the framework of the European Higher Educational Area and the Bologna Process, through the Quality Assurance Task Force of the MEDINE thematic network in medical education.Other outcomes of this project will be also presented.We hope to create closer links between all institutions involved, to promote quality assurance to European standards in medical educational programmes and all the related activities.
