Analysis of the economic impact of COVID-19 in the commercial sector of Barcelona

Objective

To measure the impact that the crisis derived from COVID-19 has had and is having on the commercial sector (in a broad sense) of the city of Barcelona.

Methodology

a)To generate a base scenario, it will be the reference against which the results obtained for the year 2020 will be compared.

b)To carry out the analysis on the period of the year that has already elapsed, to later make an analysis on the expected evolution until the end of 2020.

c)Analysis of the expected evolution until the end of 2020 in the sector.

The study analyzes the impact of the main commercial, restaurant-hotel and leisure sectors, as well as an analysis by districts and neighborhoods.

Its effect is quantified both in terms of GDP and the labor market.
