Daytrippers in small areas: Methodology and application to the case of the Province of Barcelona

Objective Define “daytripper in small area" and all those concepts related with the previous one and that affect to it, as “habitual environment", "functional area", "habitual displacement", "commute",... Propose a methodology for quantifying daytrippers in small areas Propose the content-variables on which it would be of interest dispose information on daytrippers Proceed to apply the above methodology to the case of the Province of Barcelona: a. Application of the concepts to the case study b. Existing databases c. Design on the quantification and characterization of the daytrippers in the Province of Barcelona d. Definition of the territory on which the estimates of daytrippers will be obtained e. Design on the regularity in which it would have to do the study to provide updated information on daytrippers in the Province
Methodology Prepare an extensive review of the literature on the quantification of daytrippers and associated concepts (“habitual environment“, mobility, "commuting", "functional area", "tourist destination",...). Prepare a proposal of definition-dimensioning of what is meant by daytrippers in small areas (and associated concepts). Prepare a methodological proposal on the procedure for the quantification and characterization of daytrippers in small areas. Application from mobility surveys and field work.
