Objective Determining the factors that stimulates the birth and attraction of small and medium enterprises through the analysis of linkage between small and medium enterprises and regional growth. Studying how the generation and attraction of SMEs could promote Regional Convergence in the European Union, especially after the integration of Eastern Europe.
Methodology ) MICRO ANALYSIS Evaluation of available micro-datasets (cross-country and case studies). Development of theory and methodology . Collection of data and data comparisons. Estimation of empirical models. Analysis of policy implications. 2) MACRO ANALYSIS Evaluation of the existing regional growth theories and assessment of national and regional policies. Externalities and regional growth and SMEs. Policies for regional growth.
