Investigative team Jordi Suriñach / Esther Vayà i Javier Romaní
Objective To quantify the economic impact on Catalonia generated by the activity carried out in ports that are the responsibility of the Generalitat (that is, all the ports of Catalonia, except for the ports of Barcelona and Tarragona).
Methodology 1. Explain and compile the set of statistical information (to be obtained in field work) that will be necessary for the determination of the cost directly and indirectly related to the proposed quantification study. 2. Explain and compile the set of additional statistical information to the field work that will be necessary for the determination of the expenditure directly and indirectly related to the proposed quantification study. 3. Based on the set of statistical information captured in phases 1a. and 2a., the direct and indirect impact of the invoicing variables, GDP and the occupied population will be quantified. 4. Once the number of people employed that directly and indirectly owe their place of work to the activity of the Ports of the Generalitat has been quantified, the induced impact will be calculated, consisting in the return to the economy of the remuneration of employees, wages earned by employed people obtained in direct and indirect effects. 5. Lastly, the tax collection associated with the tax collection more directly related to the activity that is to be measured is calculated. 6. Finally, we will proceed to the writing and presentation of results both in absolute terms (in terms of turnover / production, GDP, occupied population and tax collection), as relative (weight of these magnitudes with respect to the Catalan economy).
