The Ecology of Marine Macrophyes team within the “Benthic Ecology and Biology Research Group” is formed by professors from Department of Evolutionary Biology, Ecology and Environmental Sciences (Ecology Unit) of the University of Barcelona, and researchers from the Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Blanes (CSIC).

Research interests include a wide variety of approaches and subjects, ranging from plant ecophysiology to aspects related to landscape ecology.

Part of the activity within the team is devoted to the transfer of knowledge, particularly to the development of water quality indicators based on seagrass ecosystems and the study of impacts derived from human activities (aquaculture, desalination, harbors). Moreover, the team plays a key role in advanced training by teaching master courses and supervising Master and PhD theses.
