Thesis project application

Students enrolled in the research period for the first time must present their thesis project for evaluation by the monitoring committee. 

The application for thesis admission should be presented to the Faculty secretary using the standard form and must be accompanied by three copies of the thesis project report, together with a digital copy in PDF format.

As a general guide, the report should have an extension of approximately 30 pages and include the following sections:

• Introduction (justification and interest of the research, definition and specification of the field of work, etc.) 
• State of the matter
• Research aims (and/or research questions; and/or hypothesis)
• Methodology
• Provisional results, where applicable
• Working plan, with an approximate schedule
• Bibliography

The name of the doctoral program, project title, author’s name and name of the thesis supervisor, together with the date of delivery must appear on the report cover.

With regard to questions of style (bibliographic references, typography, etc.), students should follow the guidelines at the UB’s BiD web page  http://www.ub.edu/bid/en/instrucc.htm.

Finally, the applications themselves may be made at any point during the months of either June or September, during working days.

Annual report

Once the project has been admitted and up to the time of the doctoral student’s application to deposit the thesis, he/she will submit an annual report which must be approved by the thesis supervisor and assessed by the monitoring committee.

This document will consist of two sections, the first being a description of the research conducted and results obtained, and the second the working plan for the following academic year. 

Where students receive financial aid from a trainee research-staff grant program, the report may be substituted by the annual grant report.

The deadline for handing in the reports is the first working day of July.
