2. Depository Library System
Documents and publications of the United Nations can be accessed by any users thanks to the Publications Commite of the United Nations, which has been awarding Depositary Libreries around the world since 1946 under the recomendations of the the Dag Hammarskjöld Library.
At present there are 405 Depositary Libraries in 146 countries. They receive the material and maintain the collection in good conditions. They are freely open to the public.
Depository Libraries follow the instructions of the United Nations, which establishes the rules for maintenance and cataloging.
The UNBISnet covers from 1979 to the present. However, older documents are being added to the catalogue on a regular basis thanks to retrospective conversion.
