| Taxonomy, systematics, faunistics and biogeography of insects and, particularly, Coleoptera |
- Taxonomical study of several Coleoptera groups and their distribution. Study of various subjects related to their biology and distribution. |

| Applied entomology |
- Study of plagues provoked by insects and particularly those by Coleoptera. Under this research line, forest plagues, stored products plagues and wood plagues have been approached. |

| Insect conservation |
- Under this research line, collaborations have been established to set the state of conservation of insects and particularly that of Coleoptera. Red lists have been produced for iberian invertebrates as well as for insects in several Spanish regions. |
