This is the title of the Quality Research Group granted by the Catalan Government. It includes researcers from the fields of zoology and parasitology who are interested in subjects on the biology, morphology, evolutionary morphology, genetics, environmental requirements, corology, ecology, ulttrastructure, biological cycles and dispersion strategies of insectivora, rodent and carnivore parasites.

Galemys pyrenaicus is monitored using capture-recapture methods to assess its population in the Tor river (Pallars Sobirà).

Samples are taken involving the occurrence of Galemys pyrenaicus and Neomys species across their distribution area in the Iberian peninsula. Species distribution and genetic variability is being assessed using non-invasive DNA techniques. The study is performed jointly with geneticists from the Institut de Biologia Evolutiva, CSIC-UPF.

Environmental requirements of Arvicola sapidus in the Montsec area are being assessed through radiotracking and habitat characterization.

Modelling of the evolution of Neovison vison distribution in Catalonia using GIS techniques.

We are working on the relationships and competition between three species of european carnivores: fox, european badger and beech marten. We are comparing trophic requirements and intercompetition to determine the impact of uncontrolled extractions in their populations.
