Entrance requirements and previous training
Students currently registered on first or second cycle degree courses (licenciatures) as defined in the regulations prior to Royal Decree 55/21 January 2005 can be admitted to the new second cycle study programs, known as the Official Master's Programs, provided they meet the following requirements:
1. That they have completed three years of study and obtained a minimum of 180 credits on the current study program.
2. That the credits obtained include all the core subjects of the current first cycle of the university study program.
3. That the studies completed in the first cycle are included within those recognised for admission on to the Official Master's Programs as established by the university.
With the introduction of these new courses and the new applicant requirements specified in the regulations governing the graduate (grau) and postgraduate (postgrau) qualifications, many of the students currently registered on degree courses (licenciatures) can be admitted on to the Official Master's Programs.
Graduates in the following subjects can be admitted on to the Master's program:
Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Veterinary Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, Environmental Studies, Food Science and Technology, Marine Sciences and Computer Studies. Students holding equivalent university qualifications awarded by a foreign university can also apply for admission.
Admission criteria and selection procedure
The selection and admission of students is carried out by the coordinating commission for the Master's program. Decisions are based primarily on the student's academic record and training experience.
