Forest fires, Post-fire regeneration, Soil fertility, Forest restoration, Fire Modeling, Geoinformation technologies. |
Research interests:
Fire effects on vegetation and soils fertility. Study of the spatio-temporal interactions between landscape structure and fires. Integration of geoinformation technologies (remote sensing, geographical information systems) with fire modeling for designing forest management and restoration strategies for Mediterranean forests.
Current research projects:
- Monitoring post-fire vegetation dynamics in fire-affected Mediterranean ecosystems to support the spatial design of restoration and mitigation measures at the landscape level (POSTFIRE) (DE2009-0079). Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, ‘Programas Internacionales’, ‘Subprograma de Acciones Integradas’. Gener 2010 - Desembre 2012.
Investigador principal: Dra. Beatriz Duguy, Universitat de Barcelona.
- Forest fires under climate, social and economic changes in Europe, the Mediterranean and other fire-affected areas of the world (FUME) (G. Agreement: 243888). Comissió Europea. Desembre 2009 – Novembre 2014.
Investigador principal: Dr. José Manuel Moreno. Departamento de Ciencias Ambientales, Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha
- Cambios climáticos Graduales y Abruptos y sus Efectos Medioambientales (GRACCIE) (CSD2007-00067). Programa CONSOLIDER - Ingenio 2010. Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (MICINN). Novembre 2007 – Octubre 2012.
Investigador principal: Dr. Joan O. Grimalt, Departament de Química Ambiental, Institut d'Investigacions Químiques i Ambientals de Barcelona (IIQAB-C.S.I.C)
