Carles Curutchet, full professor of the IQTC, and Xavier Barril, ICREA research professor of the IBUB, have been awarded an EU Marie Curie Innovative Training Network. The ALLOD ITN (Allostery in Drug Discovery), coordinated by Prof. Zoe Curnia, from the Biomedical Research Foundation, Academy of Athens (Greece), involves a number of academic partners and pharmaceutical companies, and aims to train a new generation of scientists in exploiting the concept of allostery in drug design, develop validated methodologies for identifying small molecule allosteric modulators of protein function and ultimately introduce a promising alternative to current strategies in drug discovery. Prof. Curutchet and Prof. Barril will supervise 1 early stage researcher each in the context of ALLOD.
