Serena has successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled ‘Molecular recognition and chemical space navigation in drug discovery’. In her thesis she has developed a very successful fragment evolution platform and applied it to discover new BRD4 ligand scaffold. She also investigated the very interesting case of the hydrophobic waters hotspot, and the implication of this new kind of molecular interactions. Following her work with BRD4 she performed an optimization campaign on one of her compounds, achieving a high affinity ligand with a novel scaffold. Finally, she has also studied a cryptic cavity of TREX2 and has developed compounds which are in a transfer stage.
Good show and congratulations for the amazing work Dr. Piticchio!!
