icona UB-Ferran Adrià Award with Gallina Blanca Star

 

 

 

The winners of the 2012 edition, in the award ceremony presided over by Ferran Adrià.

With the object to promote the studies in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and Food Science and Technology among the high school students, in addition to boost those research works (treballs de recerca) which link the different sciences with the daily reality of the cuisine world, University of Barcelona organizes, since 2009, an award for those research works having to do with nutrition and the food sector.

 

University of Barcelona and Ferran Adrià, named honorary Doctorate in 2007 and one of the most notable exponents of the modern cuisine world, agreed to name the award after him. The first edition took place in the course 2009-2010, and as from the following year Gallina Blanca Star became its sponsoring company.

 

This award carries a prize of 1000 € in the form of a gift voucher to be used in educational material for the winning

 

student and a 500 € check for the professor who has supervised the work. There are also two accessits carrying a 300 € and 200 € check for the student and his/her teacher, respectively.

 

Generalitat de Catalunya's Public Health Agency also gives an accessit for the same amount to the best research work dealing with some aspect regarding food safety.

 

The jury is formed by representatives of Universitat de Barcelona, Gallina Blanca Star, the Agència Catalana de Seguretat Alimentària (ACSA), the Departament d’Ensenyament de la Generalitat de Catalunya, l’Escola d’Hoteleria i Turisme (CETT), la Alícia Foundation, Triptolemos Foundation, l’Associació Catalana de Ciències de l’Alimentació (ACCA) i l’Asociación Española de Dietistas-Nutricionistas (AEDN).
