Fran just joined Computational Biology Chemistry and Gastronomy group at Universitat of Barcelona (UB) as a predoctoral student with a FPI contract funded by the Ministry of Economy of Spain. His research is focused in computer-aided drug design for Influenza and COVID-19 using different computational methodologies.

He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) in 2016 with a final Degree project in Theoretical Chemistry. During his last academic course, he enrolled an internship at the Molecular Oncohaematology group at Hospital Clínico San Carlos de Madrid (HCSC), working on different molecular biology techniques in diagnosis and follow up of chronic leukemia patients. Subsequently, he achieved his Master’s Degree in Drug Discovery in 2017 at Universidad de Alcalá (UAH), where his research was based in computer-aided drug design of non-competitive allosteric inhibitors for calpains. In 2020, he also worked at the Infrarred and Raman Spectroscopy Group at UNED, being part of two different projects related to FTIR characterization of plastic materials and Theoretical Atmospheric Chemistry.
