Javier is pursuing an Industrial PhD program from the University of Barcelona (UB) and serves also as the Computational Chemist of Pharmacelera (hardware and software solutions for computer-aided drug design). He holds a Pharmacy degree from University of Barcelona. The best asset provided by his studies is the multidisciplinary background, which gives to him knowledge in a wide range of disciplines, from biochemistry and biophysics to human physiology and physiopathology and organic chemistry.

His interest in research and new technologies development made him combine academic and industrial area. During this period, he has been manly involved in the development of a virtual screening tool that exploits the expertise of our group in solvation free energy calculations. Through the characterization of hydrophobic mechanical quantum descriptors molecular similarity is defined. Moreover, he has been implicated in the first step of different drug discovery projects (virtual screening, structure-based drug design and quantitative 3D structure-activity relationships) both in academics and in pharmaceutical industry.
