Abstract

We use neuroimaging methodology (fMRI) for investigating human mental processes related to reasoning about others' behavior (theory of mind). We implement an experimental task called "Guessing game" that has been useful to study strategic reasoning about other people's behavior. Results of the fMRI data show enhanced activity in the Parasingulate and Orbitofrontal Cortex during choice phase when subjects were using higher level reasoning as compared to playing against the computer. Low level of reasoning does not show differential activity in those areas.
