The Centre Dona i LIteratura / Women and Literature was founded by Àngels Carabí and Marta Segarra and began it activities in 1990 as a Seminar of Literature Written by Women, which became a Center in 1994. It is located at the Facultat de Filologia of the University of Barcelona.

Recognized as a Consolidated Research Group Creació i Pensament de les Dones (CiPD) financed by the Generalitat de Catalunya (ref. SGR2005-00246).

Head office of the UNESCO Chair Women, Development, and Cultures, from January 2004, together with the University of Vic.

Editor of the Lectora. Journal of women and Textuality.

Editor of the series Women and Cultures, published by Icaria in Barcelona.

Editor of the international journal Expressions maghrébines, published with the support of the Florida State University.

Main group of the Thematic Network Women and Cultures, from the Pla de Recerca de la Generalitat de Catalunya (January 1998-December 2004).
