Professor Ruth Tsoffar of Comparative Literature and Gender Studies at the University of Michigan will offer the conference "Diversifying and queering Israeli culture". Tsoffar is an expert on Israeli ethnicity as understood from the intersection between body, gender and poetry, and has published works on feminism, sexuality and gender in multicultural societies, such as The Stains of Culture: An Ethno-Reading of Karaite Jewish Women (Wayne State University Press, 2006). The conference will take place within the MA in Creation and Representation of Cultural Identities (CRIC) and the research project Construcció d'identitats, gènere i creació artística als marges de l'arabitat. The event is open and will be held in English.
