Gloria Romanello received aPhD in Culture and Heritage Management (International PhD) from the University of Barcelona (UB – Spain), anda post-secondary academic degree in Art History (Laurea in Conservazione dei Beni Culturali) from the University of Parma (Italy).
She completeda master course in Management of Cultural and Environmental Heritageat Politecnico diTorino(Italy), Faculty of Architecture, and received her bachelor’s degree in Languages and Cultures in Euro-Mediterranean Europe (Langues et cultures de l’Europe Méditerranéenne) from University of Nice (France).
Her research focuses mostly on sociology of culture,sociology of arts and cultural policies.
At present, she’s dealing with an interdisciplinary analysis involvingaudience policies in social science, cultural practices, museology and contemporary art, visitor research andaudience development.
Her doctoral dissertation“Visitor Research and cultural organization Management. A case study about French and Spanish Contemporary Art Institutions (El conocimiento de los públicos y la gestión de las instituciones culturales. El caso de las instituciones de arte contemporáneo en Francia y en España)” has been developedwithin the frame of the CECUPS (Centre d'Estudis sobre Cultura, Política i Sociedad – University of Barcelona - Spain) andsupervised by Professor Arturo Rodríguez Morató and D. Matías Zarlenga. This workwon the 2013 Spanish Academic Research Award SGAE-Fundación Autor.
2010 shewas Visiting Researcher for CERLIS – Centre de recherche sur les liens sociaux –UnivesitéParis III - Sorbonne Nouvelle, under the supervision of Professor Alain Quemin.  2011 she was Visiting Researcher forDepartament de Sociologia of theUniversidad Complutense de Madrid, with Professor Javier Noya as her supervisor. 2012 she was invited as keynote speaker atthe International Symposium Museum Utopias,organised by the School of Museum Studies of theUniversity of Leicester (UK).
Since2012 she has been working with LAMES - Laboratoire Méditerranéen de Sociologie (CNRS LAMES UMR 7305 – Associated Researcher from 2016) forAix Marseille Université (France),where she has contributed to many academics activities, asa teacher (sociology of cultural audiences and sociology of cultural practices) and as a researcher formany scientific projects, such as“Marseille Provence 2013 – Publics et pratiques culturelles dans une capitale européenne de la culture” directed by Professor Sylvia Girel.
She works as an editor for the research platform “Audience(s), cultural practice(s) and public space(s)” (Public(s), pratiques culturelles et espace(s) public(s)) and is an editorial committee member of the academic journal Córima-Revista de gestión culturall, from theUniversidad de Guadalajara (Mexico).
