Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Barcelona. Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Barcelona since 1988. Research director for several research projects with both public and private funding. Extensive research experience in the fields of fatty acids metabolism, inflammation and oxidative stress. Expertise in Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. Author of a hundred scientific publications in the field of fatty acids and metabolism.

This research group led by Dr Josep Manyé is made up of the Laboratory Manager Dr Violeta Lorén and several pre-doctoral fellows. For more than 25 years, the group has been active in the study of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease from a basic-translational perspective. The group has led several national competitive projects as well as industry funded studies. Also, Dr Josep Manyé is Scientific Consultant at CIBUS Innova a company focused on functional foods.

The Badalona Applied Research Group in Oncology (B·ARGO) is led by Dr. Ricard Mesía, scientific director of the Institut Català d'Oncologia (ICO), and coordinated by Dr. Anna Martinez Cardús. This multidisciplinary research group is made up of medical oncologists comprising different oncology specialities, as well as, a team of post-doctoral and pre-doctoral researchers with extensive experience in functional in vitro studies for determining the efficacy of existing drugs and new active compounds in the field of translational oncology in different tumour types.
