CINAF (English: Research Group on Indigenous and Afro-American Cultures) brings together historians and anthropologists with proven experience in teaching and research on indigenous and Afro-American cultures.
The main research activity is the study of the contemporary processes in which these groups find themselves immersed in the context of Latin American states. Of interest, beginning with historical and ethnographic data, is the study of the processes that explain and give meaning to the movements of indigenous and Afro-American political ethnogenesis that we observe at present in the greater areas of the Caribbean and Atlantic Coast, Mesoamerica, the Lowlands and the Central Andes.
