The research project “Maternal surrogacy. Parental transformations in Spain on the 21st Century" (Ref. CSO2014- 55556-P, I + D + i 2014-17, Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness) carried out by the COPOLIS Research Group from the University of Barcelona under the Mirrors initiative, has been funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness in order to deepen the challenges and changes introduced by families formed through surrogacy into Spanish society, their profiles, the legal and social difficulties encountered, their reproductive trajectories and the meaning of motherhood and fatherhood, as well as the social impact of these changes.

Part of this project involves the design and implementation of a survey about surrogacy for families formed through surrogacy. Likewise, the research includes in-depth interviews with intended mothers and fathers, families, gestational agencies and other key stakeholders.
