Perfil individual

Mariano Marzo és catedràtic d'Estratigrafia i professor de Recursos Energètics i Geologia del Petroli a la Facultat de Geologia de la Universitat de Barcelona. Membre de la "Reial Acadèmia de Ciències i Arts de Barcelona" i membre de la Junta Directiva i del Comité Acadèmic del "Club Español de la Energía". Participa o ha participat en diversos consells assessors en matèria energètica de les administracions central i autonòmica ("Secretaría General de la Energía del MICYT", Departament d’Economia i Finances de la Generalitat de Catalunya) així com d'altres institucions (“American Chamber of Commerce in Spain”, Cátedra BP de Desarrollo Sostenible de la Universidad Pontificia Comillas, “Cercle d’Economia”, Fundación del Centro de Información y Documentación Internacionales en Barcelona, Fundaciò Fórum Ambiental, Fundación del Reial Automòbil Club de Catalunya, Institut Europeu de la Mediterrània, Observatorio de Política Exterior Española de la Fundación Alternativas, Real Instituto Elcano). Manté una relació continuada amb la indúctria del petroli i del gas (Cepsa, ConocoPhillips, Enagas, ExxonMobil, Hess, Norsk Hydro, Repsol-YPF, Shell, Statoil y Total) a través de la investigació aplicada al secotr (exploració i caracterització sedimentològica de jaciments) i a la formació continuada. Ha treballat a Europa, EE.UU, Sud Amèrica, Orient Mitjà i al NOrd d'Àfrica. És membre de l'"American Association of Petroleum Geologists" i de la “European Association of Petroleum Geoscientists & Engineers”. Ha publicat més de 75 treballs a revistes científiques, editat o co-editat 15 volums i presentat més de 100 ponències a conferències i congressos. Ha format part dels consells editorials de revistes de gran prestigi internacional en el camp de la geologia, com "Basin Research" i "Sedimentology". És col·laborador habitual de sobre temes energètics a La Vanguardia, així com a en diverses emissores de ràdio i televisió del nostre país.
