| The
Department of Didàctica de la Llengua i la Literatura
(DLL) has three main objectives: the training of teachers
in their first languages, Catalan and Spanish, the training
of teachers in the foreign languages, English and French,
and the carrying out of research in the methodology of language
and literature instruction.
The DLL was created in 1986. Its staff members centre their
teaching activity around the training of pre-service and in-service
primary, and secondary school teachers. They also focus on
the training of researchers in the methodology of language
and literature instruction, through postgraduate courses and
a Ph. D. programme. In addition to this, the Department offers
to both primary and secondary schools a wide range of counseling
services concerning academic, methodological and curricular
issues.
Since its inception, the directors of the Department have
been: Dr. Mª Paz Battaner (1986-1990), Dr. Antonio Mendoza
(1990-1996), Dr. Miquel Llobera (1996-1999), Dr. Julià
Font (1999-2006), Dr. Cèlia Romea (2006-).
