Research lines:
The main goal our research group is to understand the physiological
function of HERC protein family. This family of proteins contains structural
domains related with the guanine nucleotide exchange factor RCC1 and the
E3-ubiquitin ligases (HECT family). We are focus in the functional characterization
of two members of this family: p532/HERC1 and D25215/HERC3. Previous
studies from our group involved these proteins in vesicle traffic and proliferation.
By this reason, we are studying the role of HERC1 and HERC3 in endocytosis/exocytosis
pathways and in cell proliferation. To understand this function, we are
also analyzing the signal transduction pathways where these proteins are
acting.
