This page is mantained by Gabriel Pons, member of Biorom and of the research group on Apoptosis and Cancer leaded by Joan Gil,MOLECULAR VISUALIZATIONS ON APOPTOSIS Bclx with the BH3 region of Bim bound
Welcome to molecular visualizations on apoptosis . This site will offer molecular visualizations on macromolecules involved in apoptosis using chime based html pages, protein explorer (developed by Eric Martz) presentation pages and Jmol tutorials .Tutorials will be first in Spanish but they will be translated to english soon.
Gabriel Pons and Joan Gil are also members of APORED, a spanish scientific society devoted to apoptosis
Visualizations:
(Visualization of these Chime tutorials requires that you have Chime plugin installed in your computer. It is free and you can get it from MDL)
Caspases : proteases which execute the apoptotic program and are resposible for the morphology of apoptotic cells
Nf-kappa B: is a transcription factor which is activated by multiple stimuli, specially in the immune system. Stimuli include stress, oxidants, interleukins, etc. In some cellular systems, nf-kappa B constitutes a survival pathway by inducing the expression of survival and antiapoptotic proteins
(Visualization of these tutorials requieres that you have the Java virtual machine installed in your computer. Some browsers and operative system already have it. If not, You gan get it free from Sun )

Bcl-2 family proteins: Bcl-2 family is a group of proteins widely distributed which control the process of apoptosis, especially the intrinsic pathway with mitochondria, nucleus and endoplasmic reticulum
