General Information


Universities of Barcelona and Girona, with participation of professors from the Universities of Lleida, Santiago de Compostela, Mannheim, Frankfurt, Catania and Yale.

This master is intended for graduates, undergraduates and professionals of different specialities: Philosophy, Humanities, Law, Political and Government Sciences, Medicine, Infirmary, Sociology, Social and Cultural Anthropology, History, Social Education, Social Work, and, more generally, to professionals of social services, of institutions and associations related to politics, cultural diversity and the assessment in bioethics.

Structure

60 credits ects are offered in two quatrimesters for graduates (undergraduates can access the master via  60 complementary credits). Lessons will be held from October 2008 to September 2009).  The organization of this master will allow students to choose among five specialities and different itineraries.

  1. Political Philosophy  (research or academic itineraries)
  2. Subject and culture (research or academic itineraries)
  3. Ethics and citizenship (research, academic or professional training itineraries)
  4. Civil society and political institutions  (research or academic itineraries)
  5. Bioethics and applied ethics  (research or academic itineraries)


Educational objective: 

To provide specific education in the fields of ethics, politics and philosophy of law, in order to better orientate and take decisions concerning the development of human rights and democratic policies, problems arisign in coexistence and shared citizenship in our pluricultural context, subjectivity and identity, as well as dilemmas in bioethics and applied ethics.

Research itineraries provide the necessary training to access doctoral courses, to further investigate and write a Doctoral Thesis.

Academic itineraries offer advanced studies and prepare for university teaching.

Training in institutions complements theoretical studies with practical activities in institutions working in issues concerning human rights.
