INTERDISCIPLINARY EDUCATION OF THE ARTS

Learning objectives

This master's degree will provide students with the generic and specific skills to:
-study various theoretical and practical aspects of the relationship between music, plastic arts and literature, expanding on the knowledge acquired at undergraduate level and improving their career prospects or existing degree of professional competence;
-conduct interdisciplinary research into various areas of plastic arts, music, and literature, focusing on applications to cultural activities and to the world of education and didactics;
-identify the relationship between the content of the teaching program and the professional requirements of contemporary society;
-acquire and analyse detailed information on the desired characteristics and requirements of culture aimed specifically at children.

Admission requirements

This master's degree is open to:
-holders of undergraduate degrees in philology, history of art, fine arts, audiovisual communication, education, humanities, music sciences, or any other related discipline;
-holders of university diplomas in teaching, in any speciality;
-holders of other higher education qualifications in any musical speciality, provided that they are of an equivalent level to standard bachelor's degrees;
-holders of an academic qualification different to those mentioned above who can provide evidence of advanced knowledge in plastic arts, music and literature, any field of management, or in audiovisual media.

Skills and competences

Students will also acquire a range of specific skills and competences, enabling them to:
-conduct research related to the plastic arts, music and literature, assessing and taking into account the needs of society;
-devise and apply curricular strategies appropriate to the profiles and requirements of the students in each case;
-use information and communication technologies in the teaching and research contexts;
-interpret cultural manifestations characterized by the interaction between the plastic arts, music and literature;
-develop strategies and resources for studying different topics and how to apply the results in a professional context or to the development of a specific line of research;
-adapt academic strategies to the age of the students in each case, to ensure that they are effective as possible.

Cross-disciplinary skills profile

Students will acquire a range of generic competences and, on completion of the master's degree, should be able to:
-form judgements and establish criteria for the development of new proposals;
-combine theory and practice to develop continuous learning habits focused on their specific interests;
-manage social and cultural information, relating it to the knowledge acquired during the degree to produce new curricular content and strategies;
-work in disciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teams.
