Introduction

The Faculty of Economics and Business was created on 29 July 2008, in accordance with Order IUE/364/2008, 21 July, which merged the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences and the University School of Business Studies.

On 12 August 2008, the UB published a complete list of official degrees available from the new faculty, in accordance with Order IUE/393/2008, 29 July, which expanded on article 2 of the previous order.

This marked the culmination of a process initiated in 2006, when the UB began its process of adaptation to the requirements of the European Higher Education Area. The objective of the new faculty is to strengthen studies related to economics and business, including sociology and statistics and research in all pertinent areas.

The Faculty of Economics and Business draws together the long experience of its predecessors to harness their potential and make the new faculty a leader in Catalonia, Spain and Europe in the areas of economics and business teaching and research.

On 30 July 2008, a new management committee appointed by the rector on 19 May  assumed the functions formerly fulfilled by the dean's team in the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences and the management team of the University School of Business Studies.

Currently, faculty committees are finalizing the details for the new degree courses that will be available for the 2010-11 academic year.
