The research group Hermenèutica i Platonisme was founded as a section of the Societat Catalana de Filosofia in 1992 as a result of the visit of Prof. Stanley Rosen at the University of Barcelona. From then in the nineties decade the project Hermenèutica i Platonisme focused on a twofold goal: on the one hand, promote and develop in our country research in the frame of the platonic studies, on the other, place these studies at the international level. The first goal has been reached through the realization of the doctoral dissertations of the group members G. Luri, J. Monserrat, A. Bosch and X. Ibáñez, which, besides the work and study developed in team, have contributed to the consolidation of the horizon of sense and the methodological principles that constitute the group researches, all under the bases of the teaching of Professor Jordi Sales. The second one has been achieved by the creation of a research laboratory that has provided the chance for the contrast of these works with well-known scholars of the Platonic Corpus and its interpretative tradition, which at the same time has provided the opportunity to be present in wide renown forums as the International Plato Society, the Centre d'Études sur la pensée antique "Kairos kai Logos" of the Université de Provence or the Sociedad Ibérica de Filosofía Griega, as well as in the edition of journals and books with national and international impact.
At this point, the project Hermenèutica i Platonisme, faithful to its initial goals, is about to, on the one hand, continue with the study of the platonic writings, though now trying to examine the validity of the hermeuneutic bases of the interpretation set until now, proving them with the rest of the platonic dialogues. On the other hand Hermeneutica i Platonisme is about to strengthen the links already made with other scholars, through the development of collective projects that let the group make its international presence a reference of first level. All this without forgetting the sense that the main aim of the teachings of the platonic writings, and of our approach to them, keep having in the present time, who knows if specially in the present time of our Knowledge Societies: ask and clarify ourselves about the possibility of the transference and transmission of knowledge being it a result of philosophical activity or other kinds of wisdom, when they want to play an edifying role towards the citizens according to the development of society, to the development of political community.
