Funcions

Develop the doctoral programmes and coordinate and plan the design of the multidisciplinary and transversal offer, necessary for the training and development of the doctoral students.
Define the policy of collaboration with other entities and develop the necessary agreements so that the corresponding bodies approve them.
Do the annual monitoring of the access to the professional world of doctors and give them information about the professional possibilities, not only in the university area but also, especially, in the area of research and industry.
Fix the transversal training activities of doctoral students, and also regulate the activities of interest for their training.
Include, in specific situations, if it receives a specific task, official master's degree courses of mainly scientific content, as well as other open research training activities.
Approve annually the administrative calendar of the doctoral studies.
Approve the composition of the academic commissions of the respective doctoral programmes.
Approve the admission and the end of membership of the academic commissions of the respective doctoral programmes.
Report on the proposals for the designation of the coordinators of the doctoral programmes, with a previous report of the Academic Commissions.
Distribute the budget between the doctoral programmes.
Prepare and provisionally approve the internal regulations of the School and raise them to the consideration of the Governing Council.
Prepare and provisionally approve the regulations that regulate the doctoral studies and raise them to the consideration of the Governing Council.
Prepare and approve the code of good practice that will have to be ratified by the Governing Council and subscribed by all of its members.
Authorise the applications to the doctoral international programmes Erasmus Mundus to apply for the competitive calls of the European Commission.
Approve the verification reports of the doctoral programmes provisionally and report them to the Governing Council and the Social Council.
Provisonally approve the proposals for modifications to the doctoral programmes and report them to the Governing Council and the Social Council and notify them to the Council of Universities.
Order consultations and reports to the Advisory Board.
Prepare an annual report on the doctorate at the University of Barcelona.
Report on the research strategy of the Doctoral School to the Governing Council.
Assign to the Delegate Commission those functions that are necessary to carry out efficiently and quickly the resolution of the issues that require its approval.
Constitute the Commissions of Defence of the thesis.
Prepare the reports and proposals that may be appropriate.
All those functions assigned to it by the Governing Council or other competent bodies, and those specified in the Regulations themselves or in other regulations.

Composició

The director of the school who acts as its chair.
The deputy director of the Doctoral School.
The deans and directors or their delegates.
The coordinators of the doctoral programmes.
A representative of each of the entities that collaborate with the school, when this is so provided in the agreement signed.
Five representatives of the doctoral students’ representative council.
The secretary of the Committee.
