Environmental Intervention, art, city, sustainability - was created by the University of Barcelona's Board in July, 1999, like an initiative of the consolidated group UB " Art, city, sustainability".

This is an interdisciplinary centre and its members are researchers from several Departments at the UB (Departments of Sculpture, Social Psychology and Drawing) , and some associate researchers who work in diverse projects managed by the center. These associate researchers are from the University of Saragossa, Catalunya's Technical University, Complutensian University in Madrid and Design's Portuguese Center.

The area of investigation of the CER POLIS is the city, specially in the aspects referred to the urban sustainability, the urban design and public art
