SPORTS DAY AT UB SPORTS

OBJECTIVES

  • Showcase the University of Barcelona’s sports facilities to other Spanish and international universities, to future students and to prospective research fellows.
  • Highlight the enjoyable, recreational side of sports, bringing together the people who have come to visit the facilities.
  • Introduce sports that are not widely played in the visitors’ home countries.

DURATION AND TIMES
Visitors can take part in Sports Day activities at Sports UB for up to three hours, in either the morning or the afternoon session.
The morning session is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the afternoon session is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

TYPES OF SPORTS DAY
1. Introduction to Sports: an introduction to a sport that is not well-known in the visitors’ countries of origin, such as paddle tennis, rugby, five-a-side football or badminton.
2. Games Day: an activity day focusing on sports games, traditional Catalan games and non-sports physical activities, intended to be a fun, social experience for participants.
Light refreshments will be offered at the end of the day.

  • Prospective Spanish students
  • Prospective international students (Erasmus, etc.)
  • Future UB research fellows
  • Management staff from other universities

SPORTS AREAS:
The different areas where Sports Day activities can be held are:

  • Full-size and seven-a-side football pitch with artificial turf
  • Standard and seven-a-side football pitch with natural turf
  • Sports centre
  • Five-a-side football pitch with artificial turf
  • Paddle tennis courts
  • Tennis courts
  • Rugby pitch

10.-MODULAR-PROGRAM

INTENSIVE TRAINING PROGRAMS AT UB SPORTS

WHAT ARE THEY?
Periods of intensive training at UB Sports facilities.

HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?
Training sessions will be held five days per week, from Monday to Friday (excluding holidays). Each session will last two hours. This is the basic amount of training per week. It can be extended to include more days or hours.

WHEN ARE THE SESSIONS?
The training sessions will take place mainly in the morning, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHO IS IT FOR?

  • Universities teams
  • Amateurs affiliated teams
  • Regional affiliated teams

The UB Sports intensive training programme is not designed for amateur teams at national level or for professionals.

OTHER BENEFITS:
In addition to training sessions in the facilities for each sport, the intensive training period can be complemented by:

  • Friendly matches with local teams or university teams.
  • Group access to the fitness room.
  • Use of the athletics track, to build stamina.
  • Use of changing rooms.
  • Optional supply of the necessary equipment/materials.

The UB extends an invitation to all parents of new students to come and see the University where their children will be studying.  In the hands of a knowledgeable historian, parents can take advantage of a guided tour through the most interesting parts of the UB’s Historic Building, including the main vestibule, the Rector’s Office, the Paranymph Hall, the courtyards, the towers and the library, gaining insights into its historical, architectural and artistic importance.
