Organization and teaching methodology
The Master's degree in Cultural Heritage Management and Museology is an official master of 90 credits that brings the possibility to course it with a full time dedication -that would be two years- or part time in three courses. In any case, it is a face-to-face master's degree with theoretical and practical sessions.
The main language of the master is Catalan, although there are also lessons in Spanish and English. The courses are taught at the Faculty of Geography and History and there are also seminars, conferences and visits to institutions.
The lessons take place during the afternoon from 16h to 20h from Monday to Friday and sometimes (and optional) during Friday mornings. The full dedication would imply that the first course consists of 16 hours of face-to-face lessons, as well as orientation tutorials, practice and independent work.
During the second year the student has to do an internship in a museum, heritage institution or a company of the field in Catalonia, Spain or in other countries. It is also when the final master's work is written, which can be either a professional project or a research work with the possibility to go on with the reaserch in a PhD program.
Every year a maximum of 40 students from different geographic and academic backgrounds are accepted.
