Student profile, access requirements, and documents 2019-20 Print

Admission requirements - Official degree
For admission to the Masters in Immunology, students must be able to demonstrate: knowledge of human and animal anatomic structures, knowledge of the main animal physiological systems, in-depth knowledge of molecular and cell biology at the level of signal transcription, translation and transduction processes, knowledge of the structures involved in the recognition of cell-cell interactions, knowledge of the cell cycle. In addition, students should have received previous training in the more general aspects of pathologies such as cancer, auto-immunities, hypersensitivities, graft rejection, immuno-deficiencies and the pathological phenomena associated with alterations of the immune system.
Other requirements To be admitted to this postgraduate course students must have a degree in either Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Veterinary Science, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, or an equivalent qualification in the biomedical sciences, awarded by a European university or a university in any other country, provided they have been granted prior authorization or recognition by the university. All graduate applicants must demonstrate a basic understanding of immunology, and a good grounding in cell biology, physiology, biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology.

Pre-registration, Selection, Admission and Registration Processes
To access to the
master must first perform the on-line Pre-registration (dates), and to provide a set of documents listed in the tables at the end of this web page (for Spanish candidates or for foreign applicants). The master selection committee will resolve the pre-registration quieries according to the selection criteria (see sub-paragraph 1), and published on the website of the master the list of candidates selected (dates). Once admitted, the student shall perform the on-line Registration (dates) according with the requirements specified in sub-paragraph 2.

1) Selection Criteria
The criteria that are applied for selection of students are (score out of 10):
- Academic Marks: maximum 4 points. (Students must demonstrate a basic knowledge of immunology, and a base of cell biology, physiology, biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology). Students with a degree obtained outside Spain and want to equate the media to the Spanish note, should make the process of "Equivalence of average marks of university studies carried out in foreign centers" of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport LINK.
- To have prior training in Immunology (will take into account the mark): maximum 3 points
- Professional or previous research training experience in companies and research centers: maximum 2 points.
- Letter / s of reference: maximum 1 point.

2) For the on line registration, the following documents need to be seen
To complete the REGISTRATION
Spanish students:
- Copy of the degree certificate or equivalent.
Foreign students:

-
Copy of the title and transcript (both documents legalized through diplomatic channels to students from outside the European Higher Education Area; students that their country has signed the Hague Convention only necessary that the title and the certificate states the Apostilla of The Hague).
- Official translation of the title and the transcript to those who are not in Catalan, Spanish or English.

In case you have obtained the degree in a non-Spanish university must make the overall grade mark of the grade records to the Spanish equivalent. In order to do so you must obtain the equivalence document following the instructions of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport in this LINK .  5  5

Two letters of reference are required in the case that the degree was obtained in an institution other than the Universities of Barcelona or Autonomous of Barcelona.  7  7
If the candidate for the Master wants to make the Master Thesis and has confirmed the acceptance of a research group, will require a letter of reference and acceptance of the student by the group leader.  8  8
* Those students who have not completed their undergraduate studies may complete the online pre-registration, taking into account that if they are admitted to the master shall submit the official copy of the academic title and the official copy of academic records prior to the definitive registration.

# Students, who are eventually accepted and enrolled in the Master of Advanced Immunology, must submit, within 2 weeks from the start of classes, the originals of these documents at the Registry of Students and Teaching of the Faculty of Biology, University of Barcelona. If the student does not perform this step, they will receive a reminder mail and within 10 days, if they have not delivered the documents, they will void their enrollment.
