RENALNET was created by Drs. Dugan and Frank Maddux, nephrologists in Danville, Virginia, to provide a clearinghouse for information on the cause, treatment and management of kidney disease and End Stage Renal Disease(ESRD). RENALNET utilizes the vast resources of Internet to open avenues of communication among individuals and organizations involved in the care of patients with kidney disease. This information is used for education, research and treatment purposes. The information is freely available to any interested individual and it is hoped that it can be used to raise public awareness about this common, life-threatening disease. Society gains value from RENALNET through the development, collaboration, and dissemination of ideas that help to prolong and improve the lives of patients with kidney disease. RENALNET is a meeting place for the discussion of how the nephrology community and industry can work together to share ideas and focus on maintaining a consistent level of quality in the End Stage Renal Disease programs around the world. The opportunity for all segments of the nephrology community to participate in the advancement of the world's knowledge base regarding renal disease has never been greater.
