of Barcelone and currently consists of
50 members among teaching staff, researchers, graduate students,
technicians and administrative staff and services. Several
educational and research activities are developed at the department
for the training of new professionals.
The teaching...
The Department of FAO is responsible for
teaching the subjects of
Physics in the area of Applied Physics
and Optics. It also participates in other degrees both from
the University of Barcelona, teaching Chemistry,
Chemical
Engineering and Environmental
Sciences, and in collaboration with the
Polytechnic University of Catalonia, teaching Materials
Engineering. In addition, it offers a
3rd cycle research focused on the themes developed in the
department, such as the Master
of Engineering Physics, the Master
in Photonics, the Master
in Nanosciencie and Nanotechnology, the
Master
of Engineering of Energy and the Master
in Biomedical Engineering.
The research...
The Department of FAO has a long experience
in several research topics, all the teachers being active
researchers in different research groups recognised as consolidated
groups by the Catalan Government: the Group
of Thin Films and Surface Engineering,
the Solar
Energy Group, the Group
of Thin Film Structures for Spintronics
(GECFE), the Group
of Physics and Engineering of Amorphous and Nanostructured
Materials (FEMAN), the Wavefront Enginnering Group and the
Optical Trapping Lab (BiOPT). These groups
perform various research projects funded by regional, national
and European governments.
Futur students...
The Department of FAO provides interested
students the opportunity to collaborate on the research tasks
that are developed at the department, either doing an experimental
master or studying the PhD.
Knowledge transfer...
The Department of FAO also conducts research
