Clara Escoda is Lecturer of English Literature and Drama at University of Barcelona. She holds a BA with a major in English Studies (University of Barcelona), and an MA in the Humanities (Maryland, USA), with a concentration on African American literature. She has recently published her PhD thesis, Martin Crimp’s Theatre: Collapse as Resistance to Late Capitalist Society (De Gruyter, 2013), directed by Dr. Mireia Aragay. She has published articles on theatre and performance, and on Martin Crimp’s plays, in journals such as Contemporary Theatre Review, New Theatre Quarterly or Platform.

 

She has also attended conferences such as the International Federation for Theatre Research (IFTR), or the Annual Conference of the German Society for Contemporary Theatre and Drama in English (CDE). She is a member of “The representation of politics and the politics of representation in post-1990 British drama and theatre”, a three-year research project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (FFI2009-07598) and of "Ethical issues in contemporary British theatre since 1989: globalization, theatricality, spectatorship", funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (FFI2012-31842).
