I am currently a researcher at the University of Barcelona, where I obtained my Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics. My research interests include foreign language acquisition and teaching, and bilingual education. More specifically, I have done research on the effect of time distribution on the acquisition of English as a foreign language, the effect of learning context (study abroad vs. “at home”), the role of explicit instruction in the acquisition of explicit/implicit knowledge, and two-way bilingual immersion programs in the US (the latter at the Center for Applied Linguistics, Washington, DC).

As a member of the GRAL group I have been involved in different research projects funded by the Spanish Government, the most recent ones being Acquisition of English by learners of different ages in intensive exposure contexts: Stays abroad, summer camps “at home” and intensive courses “at home” ( 2011-2013; PI: Raquel Serrano) and Multimodality and comprehension-based practice: the effects of a reading-while-listening program on the acquisition of English as a foreign language (2013-present; PI: Elsa Tragant).
