| The Office of International Relations
The faculty of Philosophy’s Office of International Relations (ORI) is responsible for promoting and managing the international mobility of the philosophy students, informing students about the diverse possibilities available and most importantly facilitating and managing the study abroad relations of the Socrates-Erasmus program.
The objective of the exchange programs is to improve the university experience through international cooperation, enhance the knowledge of European countries and the rest of the world, and to promote the knowledge of foreign languages.
The University of Barcelona also provides the Office of Mobility and International Programs (OMPI), which addresses certain exchange programs based on general agreements between the University of Barcelona and other schools; OMPI also coordinates the global aspects that affect the students who are selected to study at foreign university.

There are two types of agreements through which our students can make a stay at a foreign university: ERASMUS agreements, and University of Barcelona general agreements.
It is always recommended that when a student decides to study abroad, that they do so under one of the three existing agreements available among the institutions. However, there is also the possibility of studying abroad outside any agreement. This option requires the student to make an individual request.
a) Erasmus
Basic characteristics for the Erasmus scholarship:
- Students are limited to studying in the European area
- Academic recognition of credits earned at the host university
- Stay at the host university for one semester or an entire school year
- A monthly grant of about 160 € and the possibility of attaining other grants and additional aid
- The registration is done at the home university without paying tuition to the host university.
b) University of Barcelona General Agreements:
The UB has signed general agreements with universities in the following regions: Europe, Asia, America and Oceania, where exchange students will study under similar characteristics of the ERASMUS European program on most cases.
