In the year 2001 the GEHC began studying the municipal cadastral mapping of the nineteenth century in Catalonia, and has been doing so during three consecutive and complementary research projects. Nearly two hundred and fifty maps have been found, many of which were not known beyond the scope of the municipality itself. This research has revealed a cartographic heritage which can be understood as a collection. Beyond the scope of history of cartography, these maps are a valuable source of graphical information that contains detailed economical and landscape data. These maps have been found and catalogued by the following researchers: Barcelona province: I. Muro, F. Nadal, L. Urteaga, Girona province: J. Burgueño, F. Nadal; Lleida province: J. Burgueño; Tarragona province: I. Muro. The whole catalogue was elaborated by C. Montaner and A. Nobajas.

This catalog contains the reference to 249 maps displaying 185 different municipalities. The GEHC possesses no map nor reproduction rights, so here you will find only a brief description of the map and the institution where you can find. To view them you need to contact directly with each of the proprietary institutions. If the map is available on the Internet the catalog will contain the link to access it directly.
