WITH TOURIST PURPOSES (LA GUAJIRA, COLOMBIA)
Paola Andrea Quintero Puentes, University of
Barcelona, Spain
The Department of the Guajira is one of the
most marginalized of Colombia. 65.2% of population is in poverty
situation, condition that affects in greater measurement the Wayuu
Indigenous Community that constitutes 44.9% of the total
population (DANE, Censo 2005). This paper presents the project of
"Adequate and improvement of Wayuu Indigenous Community’s houses
with tourist purpose”, which considers like an integral solution
to the problems of deficit and bad quality of housing services and
lack of economic alternatives for the Wayuu. This initiative
reflects the contradictions that tourism development generates an
indigenous territory.
